Northern Lights
Northern Lights
Hand dyed DK weight yarn with a mixture of blues, green and purple set on 100% Superwash Merino Wool yarn that's perfect for hats, scarves, sweaters, blankets, and shawls. The yarn works up in a variegated pattern. This listing is for 1 skein of yarn and is ready to ship.
Better known as Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon that has always fascinated me. I’ve always been a night sky watcher, looking for shooting stars, planets, and constellations (Orion’s Belt would always appear over our house and therefore, is my favorite 😊). I have always wanted to view the Northern Lights in the sky. However, I live in Ohio, so I’m not getting any of that viewing action here. So, I decided to make this colorway in similar colors found in the Northern Lights. It has dark navy, bright blues and greens, and a sprinkle of purple here and there. The colors were worked up on DK weight, 100% Superwash Merino Wool, the perfect yarn base for sweaters, hats, and shawls.
Note: If you want to break up the colorway a bit with a "solid" color, you can buy semi-solid color skeins of Bright Aqua or Sage Leaf in the “Semi-Solid Colors” section.
100% Superwash Merino Wool
DK Weight, 4 ply, 100g, 246 yards
Hand wash in cool water with mild soap. Dry flat.
If using more than 1 skein in a project, it is highly recommended to alternate between skeins every few rows, as there will be variations between skeins due to the hand dyeing process.
*Can request this colorway on a different yarn base/weight by placing a special-order request.
**Darker colored, highly saturated yarn, may have some color release when washed. Highly recommend to hand wash again before starting your project. Mixing wash with distilled white vinegar or a small amount of rubbing alcohol will help. Helpful to add color catcher sheets to your wash.
